Joao Oliveira was born in Guimarães in 1995. He started to play in 2005 at Vitoria SC until 2012. He transferred in 2013 to SL Benfica wining in the following year the Portuguese Cup, Super Cup and the National Championship. After several years he returned this season to Vitoria SC.  He’s a player with good potential and has been evolving since his first call to the national team in 2009. The 196-cm wingspiker, possesses a good jump and technical control. He needs to continue to work in the technical aspects, as well as in the development of his physical potentialities. In 2014 he played as a starter to the national team in the World League, leaving a good impression, with strong performances in many of their matches. He participated again in the World League in 2015 and 2016, and also in the European Qualification this last year, but with a not so consistent performance as in his first international year as senior.
