Travis first started playing volleyball at Toowoomba State High School in 2002, playing in Queensland schools cup competition. The end of 2003 he was asked to trail for the national youth team with a successful selection in the age group above him. He was offered a scholarship to the AIS at the end of 2004 and moved to Canberra and started training full time at the AIS in the beginning of 2005. 2007 saw him selected into the National senior men’s team for a tri-nations challenge against Argentina and Canada, with continued selection within the national squad from 2008 onwards. 2008 also saw him take his first professional contract with Linkoping volleyball club, then 2009 with Marienlyst volleyball club. 2010 brought about the first big international competition for Travis with being a starting player in the FIVB World Championship in Italy, where the team finished equal 19th. With a change of national team head coach Travis was able to gain a contract with Mroma volley in A1 Italy which helped in a birth for the London Olympics, where he was a starting player. Most recently with a few injuries has been hindered on the contract front but is back and healthy and ready to cause some upsets in the upcoming 2017 FIVB World League.
