Outside hitter Garrett Muagututia grew up in Oceanside, California, and
played for Francis Parker High School. He is the son of Faauuga and Kathleen
Muagututia. Kathleen played volleyball for UC Riverside. Faauuga was a Navy
Seal and represented American Samoa in bobsled at the 2994 Winter Olympics.
Muagututia played for UCLA and was named AVCA Second Team All-American in 2008.
Muagututia was on the 2014 World League team that won the gold medal. He also
played on the 2012 Pan American Cup team that won gold and the 2011 Pan Am Cup
team that won silver. He has played professionally in Poland and China.
