Three times Champion of the Regional Games, twice champion of the Open Games and state champion of São Paulo. Maurício has also won the São Paulo Cup, placed second in the South American Club Championship. In the Superliga 12/13, the middle blocker played very well for Vivo/Minas (MG), and finished the season as the best blocker in the competition. The good performances drew the attention of Bernardinho, who called him for the national team in 2013. This year he won a silver medal in the World League and three gold medals in Pan American Cup, South American Championship and Grand Champions Cup. After a period out of the national team, Maurício got back in 2015 and was part of the group that won the South American title. In 2016, he helped in the silver medal campaign of Brazil in the FIVB World League. He suffered an injury in the beginning of the Olympic Games but was able to recovery during the competition and ended the Games in the main team with decisive performances in the achievement of the Olympic gold medal.
