Guido Vermeulen gave the proper mindset for his players to win in tough situations, which is why they prevailed in their 3-2 match against Egypt
Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic, June 11, 2017 –
Netherlands coach
Guido Vermeulen believed that the Netherlands had will to win, which helped them in their 3-2 comeback against
Egypt in the FIVB Volleyball World League.
“We always try to say to try to win, no matter what the score is. That is why we were able to turn the momentum back to our side. Egypt was better in the first two sets, but we waited until our regular game came and that was crucial before we could go for the win.”
Netherlands captain Jasper Diefenbach: “It was a good battle. Egypt started very good like yesterday against Portugal. They have put us under a lot of pressure. It is always hard to play the last match on the third day. We knew it was going to be a fight. Egypt’s game was clearly better in the first two sets and then I think our condition made the difference. Our practises helped a lot and we were finally able to win all three matches here. It’s a great satisfaction after last weekend because we didn’t start well, so I am looking forward to the next weekend. We are playing in front of our home crowd.”

Egypt player Abd Elhalim Mohammed Abou: “The first two sets were perfect but afterwards, the whole team got tired. Our play was much worse then, we tried our best anyway and I want to congratulate the Netherlands because they were the better team today.”
