Antiga pleased with Canada's reaction to tough moments

Novi Sad, Serbia, June 2, 2017 - Coach Stephane Antiga emphasised that team Canada is still building confidence as they defeated Belgium in tie-breaker in their first World League match.

Canada coach, Stephane Antiga - "It was a good game for us. We are still building our confidence and I am especially satisfied with the way we reacted when we had some troubles. It is always hard to play with Belgium because they play well constantly, so I do not know if we were favorites in this match, but it was definitely a challenge for us."

Canada captain, John Gordon Perrin - "I am happy with this victory, it is important for us. We are a young team, so we were struggling a little bit, but that is normal because we are still building our game. I think we’re going to improve a lot more in the future and this is a promising start for us in the World League."

Belgium coach, Vital Heynen - "We are at the beginning of the competition, the teams are not stable. I am happy with the general level of play. The sets were close, in the end Canada was better team today. We still have to learn about each other"

Belgium captain, Sam Deroo - "
We made a lot of errors in this match, small errors that we shouldn’t have made. We were insecure in reception, we were not good in attack, serving, we have to correct many things. Of course, I want to congratulate the Canadian team, they are a solid squad. I still have faith in the team and I think we can learn a lot from this loss.
