Ivovic aces four times in Serbia’s four-set victory over USA

 

Serbia celebrate in their match against USA

Novi Sad, Serbia, June 2, 2017 – Marco Ivovic led Serbia’s serving and overall scoring efforts in the team’s 3-1 (25-18, 23-25, 25-20, 25-21) home victory over USA in their opening match of the 2017 FIVB Volleyball World League.


Ivovic aced four times for a total of 17 points in the game. Uros Kovacevic added 15 points for the winning team. Sander Taylor was the most prolific player in the American side with 13 points on his tally. His teammate Clark Carson added another 11.


This was Serbia’s ninth win in the 14 head-to-head clashes with USA in the history of the World League.

Inspired by 6,500 spectators on the stands in Novi Sad, the Serbs dominated the first set to win it by a wide margin – 25-18.


USA gained a hard-fought 25-23 victory in the second set to level the score in the match.


Dominating the match, mostly thanks to their prolific serves (a total of 11 aces), Nikola Grbic’s players regained control on the court to win the following two sets – 25-20 and 25-21 – and claim the victory and the three points from this game.
