Being only 21 years old Dmitry Shcherbinin is already a silver /(2010) and bronze (2011) medalist of the CEV Champions League, champion of Russia (2008) and a winner of the Russian national cup (2008). In 2010 he became a bronze medalist of the Russian Superleague. With Russian national teams of different levels Shcherbinin won the 2009 Universiade in Belgrade and got a bronze medal at the 2008 CEV Junior European Championship in Brno (Czech Republic.
Dmitry joined the senior Russian national team in the 2010 season and played a role of a solid substitute for Dmitry Musersky and Alexander Volkov during the 2010 FIVB World League and 2010 FIVB World Championship.
In 2011, as a part of the national team, Shcherbinin  won the World League.
 
In 2015 won the CEV CUP as the player of "Dinamo" (Moscow).
