To Blengini many things are to be improved, but it's a good start

Cach Blengini is happy with his team's performance

Pesaro, Italy, June 2, 2017 – The coach and the players of Italy are quite satisfied with the way they overcame Iran’s resistance to open their 2017 World League successfully in front of the home crowd.

Gianlorenzo Blengini, coach of Italy: “Victories are always important, not just for the score or for the ranking, but because they give energy to the team and they confirm the work that has been done during the trainings. The team showed character and high level of volleyball. There are many things to be improved, but it is a good start. We always try to do our best.”

Davide Candellaro, player of Italy: “That was our seasonal debut, and it was a good start in front of our fans. We are happy about the approach we had during the match, because there were difficult moment as well. Iran are a good team, but our mindset helped us win the match.”

Filippo Lanza, player of Italy: “That was doubtlessly a good start and our performance was quite satisfactory. I think we showed some great volleyball to the fans that came to see us.  The match was approached with a clear mindset and with the right self-confidence, considering that we did not train too much before the match. Personally I am pretty happy about it.”

Igor Kolakovic, coach of Iran: “We knew it would be tough, because playing against Italy is never easy. Today they served really well, even though sometimes they were helped by the net. Anyway, they deserved it, because they were able to stay focused even in the most difficult moments. Congratulations to them! I also want to thank all the supporters that came here for us. We hope to play better and to be a little luckier tomorrow.”
