This is only the start of a tough tournament - Sokolov and Penchev

The Bulgarian super star Tsvetan Sokolov who scored 21 points and led Bulgaria to impressive win against Poland was satisfied with the victory

Varna, Bulgaria, June 9, 2017 - Despite winning an emotional victory over the world champions Poland, the Bulgarian players remain firm with their feet on the ground, realising that the FIVB Volleyball World League tournament in Varna has just started.

Tsvetan Sokolov, player of Bulgaria: “We made too many errors especially in serving, but we managed to win. It is a really important win for us, but this is only the start of the tournament. So now it is time to rest and prepare for our next opponent, Canada.”

Nikolay Penchev, player of Bulgaria: “I am so happy with this victory. It was amazing, but this was only the first match and we already spent a lot of energy. When we play like we did today, everything is left behind us. I mean small injuries and other problems. Tomorrow I expect another tough match against Canada and we must be ready for this new challenge.”

Pawel Zatorski, player of Poland: “Bulgaria were the clever team in the fourth set and especially in the tie-breaker. They played really well on counter attack, led by Tsvetan Sokolov who made the difference in the end.”

Mateusz Bieniek, player of Poland: “I am a little bit sad because we had our chances in the fourth set. We lost, but tomorrow is a new day, a new match and we are still alive.”
