Evandro M. Guerra was the best scorer of the match with 23 points but Poland claimed the victory in five sets.
Brazil started imposing the pace in the first set and led 8-5 and 11-8, but Poland soon tied up with fierce spikes and a very good serve, winning the first set 25-20.
In the second set Brazil counterattacked with Evandro (57%) and Mauricio Borges Almeida Silva (67%) that piled on amazing spikes and monster blocks. The setback of Poland was prevented and Brazil tied up 1-1.
In the third set Renan Dal Zotto's team grew in defense and despite nine mistakes in serving, Brazil with an explosive Mauricio Souza won the third set. It was Roberto Lucarelli with two aces in a row who conquered the third set.
De Giorgi’s team did not give up: with the impressive Aleksandar Sliwka’s aces and unstoppable blocks by Bartosz Kurek and Karol Klos they tied up the score and went straight to win set 4.
In the tie break Poland were almost perfect in blocking and serving and they made their dream come true: Poland won the first match of this World league against Rio’s champions of Brazil.
