With the second best record of the Preliminary Round (six wins, three losses), the reigning Olympic champions aim to return to the top of the podium for the first time since 2010 and earn their tenth title in the FIVB’s premier annual men’s tournament.

“We have been working really hard to get the result we want," said opposite Wallace De Souza. “It would be awesome to win this title one year after the Olympics. I have never won gold in the World League before and I am really looking forward to it."

Brazil hopes to count on massive support of its home fans as the Final Six will be disputed at the Arena da Baixada, a football stadium which hosted matches at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

“We played a match there as part of our celebrations for the Olympic gold medal we won in Rio and it was really fun," added Wallace. “The main thing is adapting quickly to such a big venue. It will be amazing."

Wallace De Souza will be one of Brazil's key players in the World League Finals

For the Final Round, Brazil will not have outside hitter Lipe Fonteles and opposite Evandro Guerra, who are injured. The hosts play their first match on the World League Finals on Tuesday (July 4) at 15:05 local time against Canada. Two days later, at the same time, they will face Russia.
