Novi Sad, Serbia, 4 Jun, 2017 - Serbia finished off the opening weekend of the 2017 FIVB World League at home on a high by beating Canada in four sets.
Serbia head coach Nikola Grbić: We reacted well after yesterday, we have learned our lesson. Now, we have a long journey and very tough matches, but we will fight, I can promise you that. The guys are tired, mentally, but it is the same for each team as all players are coming from long and very hard national championships.
Serbia opposite spiker Aleksandar Atanasijević: This was a really hard match. We had somewhat unexpected loss yesterday, and we had to get straight for this match. There are a lot of good teams in this competition, and it wouldn’t get any easier. We are back, that’s important, we are focused and this victory means a lot to us.
Canada head coach Stephane Antiga: I am satisfied with overall performance in this tournament. Serbia played today much better than yesterday, so we had a really difficult job. In the end, we have already grown as a team and I expect us to be much better in the future matches.
