Novi Sad, Serbia, 03 Jun, 2017 - Belgium team members were more than happy to admit their surprise at their easy three-set win over Serbia on Saturday.
Belgium team captain Sam Deroo: "We expected to play better than yesterday but in our wildest dreams we were not thinking of having an easy match and clear victory. Serbia is a strong team, no doubt. We played very good, we were more aggressive, and we are a talented team. I am so happy right now."
Belgium head coach Vital Heynen: "I am also surprised with this victory, it is incredible. Serbia is reigning World League champion and to play like this against one of the best teams in the world is like a dream. Yesterday we had many problems, especially passing, and today everything was working fine. I cannot explain it. Maybe somebody else can. We will definitely try to repeat this game tomorrow."
Serbia head coach Nikola Grbić: "This is not the first time for us, we also had similar problems at the qualification tournament for the World Championship last week in Zagreb. Our approach was very bad, we were not aggressive enough, and maybe we underestimated Belgium. Of course, they played good, fast, they have many experienced player who are playing in the best European leagues. I know that we are better than Belgium, but we have to show it on court."
