Lausanne, Switzerland, June 4, 2017 - Canada and Serbia meet again for the first time in seven years when they come head-to-head Sunday in Novi Sad, after the North Americans beat the European side 3-1 in the 2010 World Championship.
Head-to-Head• The last meeting between these teams in a major competition took place at the 2010 World Championship. Canada won by 3-1 in the pool phase.
• This ended a winning run of five major matches by Serbia over Canada, a streak that started with three victories in the 2000 World League.
• Canada's only World League victory over Serbia also dates back to 2000 (3-1 on 2 June).
Canada• Canada have started their 2017 World League season with two victories, each of which went to five sets. On Friday, they beat Belgium 3-2 and on Saturday United States by the same score.
• Canada have now won 12 of their last 13 in the World League, including each of their last four.
• Canada's only defeat in this stretch was the 3-2 loss against Finland on 3 July of last year.
Serbia• Defending champions Serbia have come out of the gate with a 3-1 win against United States on Friday, followed by a 3-0 defeat against Belgium a day later.
• Serbia had lost only one of their last six matches coming into that match against Belgium. They can now lose back-to-back World League encounters, something they experienced only once last season.
• Serbia have lost seven of their last 10 World League matches in which they lost the first set. Of the three wins in that span, two came in their championship season 2016.
• No player scored more than 10 points for Serbia against Belgium, while three player scored more than 10 against United States on Friday.
