Poglajen scored 19 points, while Gonzalo Quiroga continues great start in Argentina senior national team with 16 points. Tsvetan Sokolov was Bulgaria’s strongest point again, scoring impressive 29 points. The second best scorer on Bulgarian side was middle blocker Nikolay Nikolov with 15 points.

Argentina took over the lead in the early stages of set one 4-7. Poglajen Cristian did his job confidently and did not let the opponents spread their wings. A moment later, after the timeout, Bulgaria managed to respond with some great blocks from Nikolov Nikolay and Sokolov Tsvetan. Tough battle lasted till the end of the set, but finally Santiago Darraidou’s huge spike closed it 23-25.

Both teams exchanged massive blows and went level until Tsvetan Sokolov reminded everyone about his presence with right wing attacks 11-9. The teams kept going tight before a series of errors from the Argentina side brought Bulgaria to the end of the set 25-23.

Bulgaria players started set three with determination and put pressure on the serve 10-6. A brilliant performance of Tsvetan Sokolov resulted in a comfortable 15-12 lead. They seemed to be absolutely ruthless for Argentina and ended the set with an impressive advantage 25-20.

Sokolov and company looked as if somebody switched off their power in set 4 as German Johansen and Cristian Poglajen showed their great skills with forceful spikes 3-10. Argentina fearlessly pushed the ball through the Bulgarian block and performed with enthusiasm. Plamen Konstantinov’s squad could not find a solution to Argentina’s attacks and stayed behind 21-25.

Things didn’t change much in last set as Argentina continued to put pressure at the net 6-10. Nikolay Nikolov fought bravely to reduce the deficit to 10-11 and showed a variable offence, but fortune wasn’t on Bulgaria side tonight as the match was sealed with the serve error by Tsvetan Sokolov 12-15.
