Lausanne, Switzerland, June 4, 2017 - USA and Belgium meet for only the second time in FIVB World League history Sunday in Novi Sad, after the Americans won in five sets last year - but this year USA are still seeking their first victory.
Head-to-Head• The only World League meeting between these teams in major competitions took place last year.
• In the 2016 World League, United States defeated Belgium in five sets.
• Belgium had won two of the five previous matches they faced United States in major competitions (World Championships and Olympic Games).
United States• United States have started their 2017 World League campaign with back-to-back defeats, 3-1 against Serbia on Friday and 3-2 at the hands of Canada on Saturday.
• This extended Team USA's losing streak in the competition to four, their longest such rut in the competition since five in a row in 2013.
• They have not started a World League campaign with three successive defeats since 1994.
Belgium• After a five-set defeat against Canada on Friday, Belgium beat defending champions Serbia in straight sets on Saturday.
• This win against Serbia broke a four-match losing streak for Belgium, their longest in the competition.
• For the first time since six straight wins in 2015, Belgium could register back-to-back victories in the competition.
• Belgium have won at least two sets in each of their last four World League matches.
• Bram Van Den Dries is Belgium’s most prolific scorer in the 2017 World League with 39 points: 26 against Canada and 13 against Serbia.
