Grbic happy with result, not with performance

Coaches Grbic and Speraw together after the game

Novi Sad, Serbia, June 2, 2017 - Although Serbia started their 2017 FIVB Volleyball World League campaign with a 3-1 win against USA, coach Nikola Grbic was not completely satisfied with his team’s performance.

Nikola Grbic, coach of Serbia: “During the match I saw many things that I did not like. We usually do not commit such errors, so I was surprised. But in the end, when I look at the statistics, I think that we should be happy with the score. We have to focus more, I think, and it will be better tomorrow.”

Nemanja Petric, captain of Serbia: "It was a very hard match. We did not know much about the US team. They have a lot of new players from college and we did not scout them. However, this is a very important victory for us. Now we are facing two very solid teams, but I think we are on the right track."

Quick links - Volleyball:

John Speraw, coach of USA: "I was pleased that we did some nice things in the serving and blocking. We struggled in reception though. That is not a matter of inexperience, but lack of communication. Still, we had our chances in this match. Unfortunately we did not use them properly."

Kawika Soji, captain of USA: "Of course we are disappointed. We always want to win. But we did some good things and we did some bad things. We are learning on the way and we hope for the best tomorrow."
