Tunisia achieve first win with Jouini in the driving seat

 

Bijelo Polje, Montenegro, June 3, 2017 - Chokri Jouini and his Tunisian teammates got their first victory in the 2017 FIVB Volleyball World League handing Estonia a 3-1 (18-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-21) defeat.

Jouini was his team’s best scorer with 14 points, followed by Hamza Nagga with 10. Estonia’s Renee Teppan was the match top scorer with 17 points. Andrus Raadik added another 13 to his team’s tally.


This was the first official encounter between these two sides.


In a tight beginning of the first set, the Estonian team was slightly better to gain an 8-6 advantage, extending it to five points at 21-16. The Estonians continued to dominate to gain an impressive 25-18 win.


Estonia started the second set well to take an early 5-2 lead, but the Tunisian team came back and even went a point ahead at the first technical time-out. After the second technical time-out the Tunisian team quickly widened the gap to close the set at 25-17 and tie the match.


In the third set the Estonian team started with better attacks for a 6-4 lead, but the Tunisians equalised at 7-7, sped up their game towards a 14-11 advantage and went on the second technical time-out with a 16-14 edge. At the ending of the set Tunisia went up by four points for a 25-21 close.

The two sides took turns in the lead at the beginning of the fourth set. After the first technical time-out Estonia went broke away to a 14-9 advantage. The Tunisian team managed to catch up at 17-17 and cruised on towards another 25-21 win and the 3-1 victory.
