Raadik helps Estonia beginn World League with a thrilling victory

 

Estonian team celebrating the win against Chinese Taipei

Bijelo Polje, Montenegro, June 2, 2017 - Estonia edged Chinese Taipei at the tiebreak 3-2 (23-25, 26-24, 25-17, 20-25, 12-15) in the very close and dramatic match with Andrus Raadik scoring match-high 19 points.

Andrus Raadik and Kristo Kollo with respectively 19 and 15 points led Estonia to a victory over Chinese Taipei with team-best 17 points from Chien-Chen Chen.





Start of the match was very intense, both teams played strong, Estonian team had a 3 point advantage (7:4), but with very good game Chinese Taipei succeded to return to 7-7. Again Estonian team attacked with full strenght and shortly comes to 13-9 and after that they went for a second technical time out with 16-12. The team of Chinese Taipei get a chance for the first time in the first set to equalize to 19:19 and even to make a one point advantage 20-19. At the end of the set Chinese Taipei made a couple of tied points and goes for a first bigger lead of 24-22 and at the end won the set 25-23. 

In the second set the team of Chinese Taipei also continued with a very good game, but the Estonian followed up closely don't leaving Chinese Taipei to get advantage bigger than two points. Like in the previous set Chinese Taipei was being more secure in their game and leading with 19-17, but Estonian recovered their game and reversed for 22-20. The ending of the second set was again intense and interesting, Chinese Taipei leveled up for 23-23, but not enough to stop Estonia who won the set by 26-24.





The third set was opened better by the Estonian team who lead with the biggest advantage in the match so far with result 6-0. On the first technical time out Chinese Taipei recovered a little 8-4, but anyways Estonian team went on a second technical time out with an advantage of 6 points (16-10). They keep like that untill the end of the set and won it with with result 25:17, for the 2-1 in sets. 




Chinese Taipei came back strong again in the fourth set and had advantage of 7 points (13-6), and kept it untill 19-12. Estonian team came closer for 17 -21, but Chinese Taipei was more in the mood for winning this set and finally won it by 25-20. 

Fifth set was in the spirit of a great battle between two teams, the first equalization was at 5-5, but Estonian team put an extra effort and lead 12-7 and finally 15-12.
