Press conference heralds World League and World Grand Prix events in Kunshan

 
Beijing, China, April 10, 2017 - The 2017 FIVB Volleyball World League and World Grand Prix stops in Kunshan, China were presented to members of the press in Beijing on Monday, in the presence of China women's team players Zhang Changning and Ding Xia and representatives from the State Sports Administration and the city of Kunshan. Kunshan will host the World League from June 16 to 18 before the World Grand Prix takes centre-stage in the city from July 7 to 9.

The World League Pool G2 tournament from June 16 to 18 will feature hosts China, Australia, Japan and Turkey. In World Grand Prix Pool B1 from July 7 to 9, reigning Olympic champions China will start by taking on Italy before playing Russia and world champions USA.

Olympic gold medallist Ding Xia answered questions at the press conference on Monday

The city of Kunshan is located in the southeastern part of the Chinese province of Jiangsu and is home to 1.6 million people. One of the most successful county-level economies in the country, Kunshan has attracted a large population of immigrants and won numerous awards for its innovative approach to providing access to essential services in the city. The venue for a number of international sports events, including the Asian Athletics Grand Prix, the World League and World Grand Prix events in Kunshan this year represent a new milestone for the city.



The organisers have also launched a slogan competition for the World League and World Grand Prix events in Kunshan. Details are available here (in Chinese).

China will also host the World Grand Prix Finals in Nanjing from August 2 to 6.
