Play of the Day: France setter Toniutti displays golden touch to score against Italy

 

France's Benjamin Toniutti demonstrates his versatility on the court

Lausanne, Switzerland, June 11, 2017 – France setter and captain Benjamin Toniutti left the crowd astounded as he finished off an incredible play with an inch-perfect touch to the Italian backline on Saturday.



Toniutti’s talent as court general is one of a kind, orchestrating brilliant plays that have led his team to numerous victories. The French captain is blessed with versatility. Just see him do everything on the court!



Toniutti’s fine setting skills and masterfully crafted moves have also been put to great use, with the likes of Earvin Ngapeth and Antonin Rouzier moving in harmony to come up with powerful performances in France's winning 2015 World League campaign.

Toniutti has featured regularly in coach Laurent Tillie’s starting line-up this year. Together with mainstays Kevin Le Roux, Nicolas Le Goff and Julien Lyneel, and youngsters Stephen Boyer and Trevor Clevenot, he is a key member of the team.

Toniutti's leadership and class have also been key to France's unbeaten run in this year's competition, stretching to five matches so far. Their latest exploit came on Saturday, with a 3-1 win over Italy in Pau. And Toniutti clearly enjoyed the victory.
