Belgium's Deroo shows good form in a straight-set win over Serbia


Novi Sad, Serbia, 3 Jun, 2017 - Home fans had no reasons to celebrate on Saturday evening as Sam Deroo led Belgium to a quick win over Serbia.

Deroo scored 15 points in the match and was closely followed by teammate Bram Van Den Dries. On the other side of the net Drazen Luburic, Srecko Lisinac and Nemanja Petric scored 10 points each.

The opening set was a closely-contested affair with both team determined to build up advantage. In the end, it was Belgium, who managed to hold on to their narrow lead and take the set with a five-point advantage.

The second set saw a dominant performance by Belgium led by Sam Deroo. The home side found themselves unable to keep up with the visitors and eventually conceded the set, 25-18.

The final set was a true nail-biter. With the crowd's support Serbia were able to challenge Belgium up until the very finish to the set. In the end, it was the visitors who displayed a bit more determination winning the set, 25-23.
