Team profile

Estonia

Estonia are one of the two sides making their FIVB World League debut this year, after topping the 2016 European League with a 3-0 win over the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia in the final. That was the team’s first and only title in a major international competition. Estonia had previously made it to the Final Four of the 2015 European League, but lost to the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia in the semifinals before going down to Poland in the bronze medal match. Estonia have never qualified for the FIVB World Championships, but made it four times to the European Championships. They made the playoffs of the continental event twice, but were knocked out by Bulgaria 3-0 in 2011 and by Serbia 3-2 in 2015. They have again qualified to participate in the 2017 European Championship in Poland.
