World League Group 3 teams lay out road ahead

 

Gyorgi Grozer will lead Germany in Group 3 of the FIVB Volleyball World League

Lausanne, Switzerland, April 28, 2017 – German heavy-hitting opposite Gyorgy Grozer was included in the list of 21 players which will be cut down to 18 and then 14 before his team go up against a bright bunch of up-and-coming squads that will take centre stage in FIVB Volleyball World League Group 3.

The Group 3 competition will begin on June 2 and will end on June 11, with six teams from Europe, three from Asia, and one each from Africa, North America and South America.

Italian coach Andrea Giani will lead the German team’s campaign in Group 3 this year, following his mentorship at Slovenia in last year’s Group 3 Finals victory.

Grozer is included in the German offence along with Christian Fromm, Denys Kaliberada and Lukas Kampa to improve on their second place finish in 2016.

However, their European rivals Greece, Montenegro and Spain return to rise to the challenge, while newcomers Estonia and Austria will showcase their talents in the competition.

Greece captain Mitar Tzourits is also set to feature for his team, while Marko Bojic and Andres Villena should Montenegro and Spain, respectively.

Chinese Taipei and Qatar will compete in their second year, while Kazakhstan will participate in their third World League season this year. Chinese Taipei’s Chien-Chen Chen, Qatar’s Ibrahim Ibrahim and Bojan Djukic, and Kazakhstan’s Vitaliy Vorivodin are expected to step up for their squads.

Tunisia and Mexico will rely on key players including the likes of Hichem Kaabi and Jorge Barajas to lead their respective campaigns, while Venezuela will count on the likes of Jhonlenn Cruz Barreto Pena and Willner Enrique Rivas Quijada to continue deceased skipper Kervin Pinerua’s legacy.



*Team lists will be cut from 21 down to 18 (deadline May 4) before the beginning of the 2017 FIVB Volleyball World League on June 2. For the World League up to 14 players may be recorded on a score sheet and play in a match.
