Venezuela and Greece to break deadlock

 

Lausanne, Switzerland, June 8, 2017 - Venezuela meet Greece for the fifth time in FIVB World League history Friday in Tallin, whith the series locked in a 2-2 tie.

Head-to-Head

• Venezuela and Greece will clash for the fifth time in the World League.
• All four previous World League meetings between Venezuela and Greece came in 2001, with both teams winning twice.
• Three of the previous four World League matches between these teams were five-setters.

Venezuela
• Venezuela won six of their last ten World League matches.
• Venezuela lost 12 of their last 13 World League matches against European opposition. The only exception in this run is the five-set victory over Montenegro on 24 June 2016.
• Ronald Jose Fayola Hurtado won a team-high 34 points in the 2017 World League opening weekend, one more than Alexander Rodriguez Gonzalez Emerson (33).

Greece
• Greece started their 2017 World League campaign with three defeats. They lost 3-0 against Qatar and recorded 3-1 defeats against Mexico and Spain.
• Greece could lose their opening four matches of a World League campaign for the fifth time and for the first time since 1998.
• Greece have already lost more matches this campaign (3) than in their whole 2016 World League season (2).
• Only Germany's Simon Hirsch (8) and Mexico's Pedro Rangel (7) recorded more aces than Rafail Koumentakis (6) in Group 3 last weekend.
