Spain and Estonia in all-European Group 3 final

Lausanne, Switzerland, June 18, 2017 - Spain and Estonia clash for 2017 FIVB World League Group 3 gold Sunday in Leon, in an all-European final for the second year running. Both teams stand on 6-1 records overall this season after winning their semifinals on Saturday, but this is the first time they come head-to-heead in the history of the competition.

Head-to-Head
• This will be the first match between Spain and Estonia in a major global tournament.
• The Group 3 final will be contested by two CEV teams for the second consecutive year. In 2016, Slovenia beat Germany 3-1.

Spain
• Spain beat Germany in straight sets in the semifinal. It came only seven days after the Germans had beaten the Spanish in straight sets during the group stage.
• That defeat against Germany is Spain's only defeat in the 2017 World League.
• Spain have won six matches in this year's World League. Only in 2002 (9) and 1999 (7) have they won more fixtures in a single World League campaign.
• Andres Villena (111) is the leading scorer in Group 3 this year.

Estonia
• Estonia have reached the Group 3 final in their debut World League campaign. Slovenia won Group 3 on their World League debut last year.
• Estonia beat hosts Mexico 3-0 in the semifinal. It was their fourth straight-set victory of the 2017 World League.
• Estonia's only World League defeat was 3-1 against Tunisia in their second fixture of the tournament.
• Estonia have won both of their World League five-setters.

• Estonia have won the opening set in each of their last six World League matches. Only in their first-ever fixture in the tournament (3-2 win v Chinese Taipei) did they lose the opening set.
