Germany started the match well. With a double-block, they took a 8:6 lead at the first technical time-out. After this break the 18-years old Tobias Krick showed an impressive attack, followed by a ball with vision and soft touch played by Christian Fromm. In this phase of the match, assisted by service and offense errors, Spain did not manage to put pressure on the German team. At 14:9 Spain´s head coach Fernando Munoz reacted with a time-out. This brought Spain back into the match. With a plenty of commitment, the Iberians drew level at 20:20. Nevertheless, their fighting spirit did not last.. After 30 minutes, Ruben Schott made use of the fourth set point to 28:26 and 1:0 lead in sets for Germany.

Also in set two, Germany got off to a good start. They built a quick 6:2 lead also benefiting from a penalty for Spain due to complaint. While Germany now took advantage of their opportunities among others by Krick and Fromm, Spain succeeded only slightly. At the end, Schott scored to 25:15 with an ace.

But Spain did not want to acknowledge defeat. At 8:5 Spain went into the first technical time-out of the third set in the lead. Next up, the crowd could marvel at some sensational rallies almost always with the better end for Germany. After some incredible blocks by Krick and Fromm and a well-done attack by Hirsch, team Germany made the running to 13:12.
After just 82 minutes the match was over. The DVV team made use of its first match point, won set three 25:19 and the match 3:0 in sets.
