Austria in rematch of last week's clash with with Germany

 

Lausanne, Switzerland, June 8, 2017 - Austria are making their FIVB World League debut this year, but when they host Germany Friday in Linz they already have history behind them. The two teams met in Frankfurt last week on the opening weekend, with Germany winning in four sets.

Head-to-Head
• Austria and Germany have met once in the World League. Last weekend, Germany proved too strong (3-1).
• Germany have only player Greece (4) and Kazakhstan (2) multiple times in the World League without losing.
• Germany have won two of the last three World League matches against fellow CEV countries. Besides their win against Austria they also won against Spain last season. Their loss came against Slovenia (3-1).

Austria
• Austria won two of their first three matches in the tournament. One of these victories was an awarded straight sets victory against Venezuela.
• In both other matches, Austria won the first set. Against Germany they lost the following three, against Kazakhstan they only lost the second of the total four sets.
• After the first week of play, Alexander Berger is the best spiker in Group 3 with a success rate of 60%.

Germany
• Germany won the first three matches in the 2017 World League, their best run in the competition since winning six in a row in 2012.
• Germany could win their first four matches of a World League campaign for the first time.• Germany have won at least one set in each of their last 13 World League matches.
• Tim Broshog is the best blocker in Group 3 with an average of 1.09 per set. His 12 stuff blocks are also most in Group 3.
• Simon Hirsch had a Group 3-high eight aces in the first weekend of this year's World League.
