Tiago Violas was born in Ovar in 1989, and started to play in 1998, with 9 years old, in Esmoriz GC, club which he represent until 2010. After, he played to the Polish club Jastrzebski Wegiel AS where he stayed for two years, moving back to Portugal in the following year to play for Vitoria SC. AJF Bastardo in Terceira Island, was his new club with whom he won the Portuguese championship. This season he’s playing with Benfica in the final play-off of the championship. With 193-cm Violas is an experience setter and he started to play for the junior national team in 2007 and only two years later he played his first match for the senior team in the Qualification Tournament of the 2010 World Championships. In a difficult moment, and despite his youth, he knew how to assume the role of titular setter in the team and handle the pressure related. He is a guaranteed setter and with lot of success. Very committed, humble, and reveals a great determination in learning and to continuously improve. Violas, is a tactic setter, with fast and high pass, and good physical structure. His best result with the senior national team was the European League Champion title conquered in 2010 and the 2nd place in the 2016 World League Group 2 Finals.
