The 2.04m tall Thijs ter Horst is known for his high reach, and can be highly effective in attack. The wing-spiker made his debut for the national team in 2011, in a friendly match against Belgium. Since then he sung the national anthem 144 times. With the Dutch team he won the European League in 2012. In the 2016-2017 season, Ter Horst played for the Korean team Daejeon Samsung Bluefangs. The wing spiker was born and raised in the eastern part of Holland, where he started playing volleyball in 1998 at Flash Nijverdal.
