Jan was born in Česká Lípa, northern part of Czech republic and spent all his childhood in small village called Okrouhla. Jan played in three clubs in his carrier (Ceska Lipa, CZU Praha and Dukla Liberec). He has won 2 junior titles and 3 kadets titles with Praha and 1 senior title with Dukla Liberec. Jan was also in Czech junior national team for 4 years and ended up with 6th place at European championship.
