Slovenia and Turkey clash for first time ever

 

Lausanne, Switzerland, June 10, 2017 - Slovenia clash with Turkey in Takasaki Sunday in what is their first ever encounter in any official FIVB competition, with the 2015 European Championship silver medallists looking at improving their 85% win-loss ratio and Turkey after putting an end to a two-match losing streak.

Head-to-Head
• These teams will meet for the first time ever in a major competition.
• Slovenia have won their last four World League matches against fellow CEV nations, since the 3-1 loss against Greece on 26 June 2016.

Slovenia
• Slovenia have lost only two of their 13 World League matches, the 3-1 defeat to Greece on 26 June 2016 and the 3-2 loss against Japan.
• Their 85% win percentage is the highest of any team in the competition.
• Slovenia have won at least one set in each of their previous 13 World League matches.
• Klemen Cebulj (22) and Mitja Gasparini (20) both scored at least 20 points in Slovenia's 3-2 defeat against Japan.

Turkey
• After winning their first three matches of the 2017 World League, Turkey have now lost successive matches.
• They lost 3-2 to Korea despite winning more points than their opponents (105-102). They outblocked (14-9) and outserved (7-2) Korea.
• Turkey have never lost three consecutive matches in the World League.
• Turkey have only once failed to win a single set in a World League match, the 3-0 defeat to Canada on 9 July 2016.
• Mustafa Koc scored five points from stuff blocks in Turkey's match against Korea.
