Australia coach Mark Lebedew said: "I expect a great volleyball festival with a lot of young people coming to watch the games. It is a very beautiful stadium. We had a great start for this World League. We keep getting better every day. For us the result is less important but the performance is most important. Teams in the Group 2 are very close in level. Every team can win every match. It makes everything exciting."
China coach Raul Lozano said: "I want to see the team play well. We will try to win more matches and reach the Finals in Australia. Men’s volleyball in China is improving and getting better results. Chinese women have been in top level of the world for 20 years."
Slovakia Andrej Kravarik said: "We are very happy to be in Helsinki and in this big celebration of volleyball. All teams are on a high level and ready for the tournament. We want to play at least at the same level as we did in the first tournament. Some of these teams can think about the Final Four. When I became the head coach of Slovakia everything happened very quickly, but I know the team and there was no problem."
Finland coach Tuomas Sammelvuo said: "We want to improve our play and focus on things that we want to develop, especially our side out game. We can never be satisfied, but always want to be better and do the small details better and better. It’s always next practice, nothing else."
After their successful stint in the World Championship qualification tournament in the Czech Republic town of Karlovy Vary, Sammelvuo rotated five players in the roster. “We will have that same roster as when we played in Seoul,” Sammelvuo explained. “Now I have added opposite Urpo Sivula, who previously had a minor leg injury, but now he is back in good shape.”
