Ankara, Turkey, June 4, 2017 - Turkey keeps the leader's position in pool C2 after their second tie-breaker of the weekend. Hosts won 3-2 (25-22, 23-25, 25-18, 24-26, 17-15) against Netherlands.
Metin Toy and Wouter Her Meat had a real scoring duel, getting 28 and 26 points respectively. Thomas Koelewijn scored 4 points in block, while Mustafa Koc showed a strong hand at the service line, serving 3 aces.
The first match of the last day started with a service of The Netherlands. Turkey was ahead on first technical time out with a score of 8-6. Turkey continued to increase the gap between two teams and when they came to second technical time out the score was 16-13. Towards the last minutes of the set The Netherlanders tried to catch but they did not. Turkey won the set with a score of 25-22.
When the second set started, both of the teams were willing to win. Both of them used effective blocks. The Netherlands was ahead on the whole technical time outs. Sometimes score was very close. At the end of the set The Netherlands became a winner with a score of 23-25.
The third set started with The Netherlands servise and the first point went to Turkey. Turkey who started set fast was ahead on the first technical time out 8-4. Turkey continued its block attack and it maintained to gain points. When the teams came to second technical time out the score was 16-9 and Turkey was ahead. Turkey continued its pressure throughout the set. With an effective block of Baturalp Burak Gungor, Turkey won the set 25-18.
In the first minutes of the fourth set, Jasper Diefenbach (The Netherlands) and Gokhan Gokgoz (Turkey) are shown yellow cards. The Netherlands was ahead on the whole technical time outs. In general of the set The Netherlands was outstanding. However Turkey caught the score and the match went to tiebreaker. At the end of the set The Netherlands became a winner of the set 24-26.
The last set of the match was really contentious. The points of two teams were very close in the every minute of the game. Eventually, Turkey who felt its magnificent supporters always became a winner with a score of 17-15.
