I was happy with Yanagida's performance: Japan coach

Takasaki, Japan, June 11, 2017 – Japan coach Yuichi Nakagaichi praised his captain, Masahiro Yanagida, for his contribution in Japan’s 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-20) win over Korea the FIVB World League at Takasaki Arena on Sunday.

Japan coach Yuichi Nakagaichi: I was very satisfied with Yanagida's performance on service and service reception. Yanagida played well from the start. We had many aces in the match and we had the pace throughout the match. We have won three straight here and were helped by our opponents' mistakes, but we need to hold on to this to keep moving forward.

Japan captain Masahiro Yanagida: We played our volleyball from the start tonight and put pressure on the opposition with our serves. We didn't have many problems from their serves. We won all three matches here and this will give us confidence for our next matches.

Japan player Yuki Ishikawa: I did not play that well tonight. Other players did and that is why we won.

Korea captain Lee Sun Kyu: Japan had very good players and were powerful tonight. We were totally beaten.

Korea coach Kim Ho Chul: We were completely defeated. We did not play as expected. The five-set matches sapped our energy and made it difficult for us. The biggest problem for us tonight was our serve reception; it was not good. We also made mistakes on offense and defense. But they were really good.
