Head coaches of Korea, Czech Republic, Finland, and Slovenia determined ahead of World League Pool A2

Seoul, Korea, June 1, 2017 - On June 1, the head coaches of Korea, the Czech Republic, Finland, and Slovenia gathered at the Summit Hotel in Seoul for a press conference looking ahead to the first week FIVB Volleyball World League tournament in Korea.

Korea head coach Hochul Kim stressed the importance of team play. He said: “Our young players are full of passion. We will aim for victory by using Asian-style strategy and strong team play.”

Czech Republic head coach Miguel Angel Falasca said: “Our team goal is to keep developing. We will try to win as much as we can but it is more important for our young players to gain experience in a big league.”

Finland coach Tuomas Sammelvuo said he was focused on building a team culture. He remarked that many new players had joined the national team recently and expressed the wish that the Finland fans feel happy when they watch the national team play.

Slovenia coach Slobodan Kovac said: “Our guys are hungry for victory. We won the European Championship two years ago and we have been showing great play since then. I trust my team to play their best. Also, I will give every player a chance to contribute to matches.”

A lot of questions were focused on Kim. He commented that he feels at a disadvantage to start off the World League by playing the first week at home. He admitted that he feels burdened by the high expectations put on his team and said it had not had much time to coordinate teamwork and strategy. He stated his determination to remain in Group 2.
