Dutch look to keep slate clean against Egypt

 

Lausanne, Switzerland, June 10, 2017 - The Netherlands and Egypt clash Sunday in Ceske Budejovice for the second time this season, after the Dutch's opening day win in straight sets in Ankara - but The Netherlands have never been beaten African side in five previous head-to-head encounters.

Head-to-Head
• These nations started their 2017 World League campaign facing each other. On 2 June, Netherlands triumphed in straight sets in Ankara.
• Netherlands have won all five of their encounters on a major stage and Egypt have never been able to take Holland to a fifth set.
• Netherlands have won all 12 of their major encounters with opponents representing Africa.

Egypt
• Egypt's last match was a five-set victory against Portugal. It ended a seven-match World League losing streak, including the opening four fixtures of this year's competition.
• That victory against Portugal came after a five-set defeat versus Czech Republic. Egypt have never had three consecutive World League fixtures go to a deciding set.
• Both Ahmed Abdelhay (65) and Ahmed Shafik (63) have scored more than 60 points in Group 2.

Netherlands
• In Netherlands' last nine World League campaigns (including 2017), they have started with three wins out of five in eight of them. The only exception was 2015 (W4-L1).
• Netherlands have dropped only one set in their three World League victories this year.
• Netherlands have won at least one set in 22 of their last 23 World League matches. The only exception in that run was the straight-set defeat versus Turkey last year.
