Czechs look to extend record over Portuguese

 

Lausanne, Switzerland, June 10, 2017 - The Czech Republic host Portugal Sunday in Ceske Budejovice and look at extending their 3-1 head-to-head record after their four clashed in yhe 2014 edition of the FIVB World League.

Head-to-Head
• These teams have met four times in a major international competition, each time in the World League.
• All of these meetings came in 2014. Portugal won the first, before Czech Republic took the next three.
• Czech Republic won both meetings with Portugal that were played in Czech Republic.

Czech Republic
• Czech Republic's 2017 World League campaign has gone L-W-L-W-L. The fifth of those matches is the only one to be decided in straight sets (defeat against Netherlands).
• Czech Republic have lost the opening set in all five of their 2017 World League matches.
• Czech Republic narrowly maintain a superior World League win to loss record (W28-L27).
• Czech Republic have won 13 of their 18 World League five-setters.

Portugal
• Portugal have lost four of their five matches in the 2017 World League. The only exception was the five-set victory against Japan.
• It took Portugal until their seventh fixture of last year's World League to record their second victory.
• The Ferreira brothers Alexandre (79) and Marco (65) are Portugal's leading scorers in this year's World League.
