Starting point is in Frankfurt, goal is the final round

A trio for the German Volleyball Federation: Moritz Karlitzek, Andrea Giani and Christian Dünnes.

Frankfurt, Germany, June 2, 2017 - From June 2 to 4, the German men's national team will host teams from Kazakhstan, Austria and Venezuela in 2017 FIVB Volleyball World League Pool C3. The venue for the tournament is the Fraport Arena in Frankfurt/Main and for head coach Andrea Giani the goal is clear: "We play to win. I always want to win!"

Together with newcomer Moritz Karlitzek and DVV Sports Director Christian Dünnes, Giani answered questions during an interview at the DVV headquarters. After not qualifying for the 2018 FIVB Volleyball World Championship last weekend in Lyon, France, the programme continues with the World League. For Giani who is sending a really young team into the competition (the average age is 22.4 years), a really important factor is that "The players have a lot of potential. They just have to play internationally and present themselves. For me it is a good opportunity to see them outside of the German Bundesliga."

One of the 'young and wild ones' is Moritz Karlitzek. The 20-year-old, who will probably play his first match for the national team, said: "I am excited to finally play for the men's national team. I hope for as much playing time on the court as possible."

For the new Sports Director - former national player Christian Dünnes - participation in the World League is important for the "Development of the young players in the long term and to slowly lead them towards the top level in the world."
