Vermeulen pleased with hard-fought victory

Ankara, Turkey, June 2, 2017 – Despite the straight-set match between the Netherlands and Egypt, both sides were pleased with the fact that ot was a hard-fought game with both teams performing well.

Gido Vermeulen, coach of Netherlands: "I am very happy that we won, because we know Egypt are a good team. I think we had a good game today. We fought for the victory."


Jasper Diefenbach, captain of Netherlands: "We are so happy to win our first game in this year’s World League. It was a very hard battle, because Egypt fought very well, but I think at the end of the match our substitutions won the game. We had a real fighting team today and at the end we were better. I am happy about my team’s performances."


Ibrahim Fakhreldin, coach of Egypt: "I think we played a good strong match."

Ahmed Abdelhay, captain of Egypt: "It was our first match here. We played a good match. We almost won the second and the third sets. We keep our hopes for the next match. We are going to perform much better."
