The win over China is precious for Arslan Ekşi

Ankara, Turkey, June 2, 2017 - Turkey's captain Arslan Ekşi admits that the victory over China was precious for Turkey, considering difficult situation with injured teammates.

Turkey coach Josko Milenkoski - “In normal conditions, this match should have been finished 3-0. We were concentrated and focused in the first two sets. But after the second set, we became tired minute by minute. We have so many injured players. We played with only six players today, so we couldn’t do any rotations. China is also a very tough team. During the World League for us winning the game is more important than winning the points, so we’ve done good job on this part. Now we have match with Egypt ahead. We’ll concentrate to that them.”

Turkey captain, Arslan Ekşi - “In my opinion, we played good volleyball in the first two sets. After the second set, we became really tired. In the past couple of weeks we have played World Championship qualifier, having five matches in a row, which resulted in number of injured players among our squad. It is precious to win in these conditions. Tomorrow, we’ll play with Egypt and it will be a tough game. But we got enough power to win that match.”

China coach Raul Lozano - “We couldn’t played our game in the first and second sets. But after that we woke up and started to fight. It’s always hard to play home team and if it’s first match of the tournament, it’s harder. I want to congratulate my team for the effort.”
