Ter Maat: The last victory was for our fans

Wouter ter Maat was today's top scorer in the match against Czech Republic

The Hague, Netherlands, June 18, 2017 - Steady, solid level of the Dutch team is what will give them a chance during final phase of World League Group 2, says the best scorer of Netherlands, Wouter Ter Maat. Netherlands defeated Czech Republic in four sets, recording three victories at home.

Netherlands secured their spot at the finals held in Australia, but taking it easy on their last day in The Hague was not an option. Alongise Ter Maat, Gijs Jorna shared his thoughts after debuting in a new role, switching from position of libero to an outside hitter.

Netherlands opposite, Wouter Ter Maat - "We played for the pool win today. For our home crowd, but also for the financial reward. Tomorrow we fly to Australia, I think we have a good chance there, as we play a steady, good level."

Netherlands outside hitter, Gijs Jorna - "It is always a pleasure to enter the field when your team is playing a good match. In Australia, we will have to play our best every single match to have a chance on the win. A tough job, with European runner up Slovenia, Australia on home ground and Japan, a team we don't know very well."
