Slovenia coach Kovac surprised by Korea lineup

Press conference between Korea and Slovenia

Seoul, Korea, June 3, 2017 – Slovenia coach Slobodan Kovac was happy with his team’s win over hosts Korea on Saturday, especially as he faced an unfamiliar lineup.

Slobodan Kovac, Slovenia coach: Korea surprised us at the start of the match by playing the players they did. Even though we studied the Korean players' tactics, they surprised us with new players. At first we were slow to play our full game, but we made 22 blocks and this is a super performance.

Hochul Kim, Korea coach: Slovenia were taller than we expected and our players were not accustomed to Slovenia's height and this was a major factor in our loss. Slovenia is one of the strongest European teams and they used their height well. It was a disappointing match overall.

Jiseok Jung of Korea: Slovenia were better than the Czech Republic. The fact that we could not capitalise on our chances when they came was the key reason why we lost.

Tine Urnaut, Slovenia captain: I'm very happy that we won this game even though it was a tough one. Our new coach did a good job. However, we still need to improve. The Korean team did a really good job. The Korean players are young, but they plqyed very well.
