Gold Coast, Australia, June 25, 2017 – Australia captain Paul Carroll said that although his team-mates were tired, they were still mentally prepared to win against the Netherlands in Group 2’s battle for third place in the 2017 FIVB Volleyball World League.
“It was tough after yesterday’s loss. We are all physically tired, but I think we had good mental preparation today. We used the crowd to help us push and fight for the last few balls.”
Australia coach Mark Lebedew: “We are happy to end up with the bronze medal. I think we had a good World League campaign, we fought a lot and we did a lot of things for the future. It was great to get the bronze medal and do it in front of our home crowd.
“We played a lot of pretty close sets and yesterday we had three of those. I’m happy that we put ourselves in the position where we can fight for the set win and match win. If we do that we can then we can win more than we’re losing."Quick links - Volleyball:

Netherlands coach Gido Vermeulen: “I think my team fought very well. The other side got more luck, while the calls did not come our way. We could not finish the job and we are disappointed that we had to finish fourth place here.
