Coach and captain pleased as Slovakia reach nine-point goal

 

Poprad, Slovakia, June 4, 2017 – The coach and the captain of Slovakia did not hide their satisfaction with the fact that their team has achieved the goal to finish the World League tournament at home with a full record of nine points.

Andrej Kravarik, coach of Slovakia: "We have won in three sets, but it was not as easy as it may look. It was a hard match and we had to fight for the victory. We have nine points; that was out goal, and we are happy. I am proud of my players. For me as a new coach this is a great start. But the World League has just started and it will be difficult in the next tournaments. We know it."


Emanuel Kohut, captain of Slovakia: "Before this tournament we said that nine points was our goal, but it was really tough to achieve it. I think we played very well throughout the tournament and our fantastic crowd helped us a lot. We are very satisfied with our new coach; he put new energy into the team. We made a giant step forward, but it the Gold Coast is still too far away."


Hugo Silva, coach of Portugal: "In my opinion, the injuries in my team changed our game a little bit, but we were trying to fight. We made some changes during the match because Slovakia played well and we tried to break the match, but we lost.” 

Alexandre Ferreira, captain of Portugal: "I think it was a good match, but we made a lot of mistakes, for example in serving. We need to rest and concentrate befoe the next tournament. Congratulations to Slovakia!"
