Sivula ends weekend for Finland with a win

 

Cairo, Egypt, June 18, 2017 - Finland had to wait until last day in week three to secure a win, defeating Egypt 3-1 (25-22, 25-13, 18-25, 25-22). Urpo Sivula led the team, securing 18 points. 





With 18 points (15 attacks, 2 blocks and 1 serve), Sivula was the top scorer of the match, followed by Elviss Krastins who scored 16 points for Finland. On Egypt's side Hisham Ewais and Ahmed Shafik shared the best scorer title with 13 points each. 


The first set showed a good fight from both teams until the visitors took the 11-8 advantage with strong attack from Sivula. After the second technical time out Finland succeeded to widen the gap to five points Egypt try to come back, but Finland end the set 25-22.



In the second set the hosts were far from their best, forcing the coach to look for help from the bench and make some substitution. It was too late as Finland got an early lead 6-2, they kept it throughout the set thanks to strong attack and smart defence.



Egyptian coach went to the bench in the third set and he was right as Egypt won the only set on home soil. Egypt dominated the set with strong attack from Hisham and Sayed to won it 25-18.


The fourth set was again played point by point before the visitors took four points advantage in the first technical time out which they maintained throughout the set thanks again to attack from Sivula and Krastins.
