Konstantinov: I'm happy with the victory, but not with how we played

Cordoba, Argentina, June, 17, 2017 - Bulgaria made an important step on their quest for a place in the Final Six with a 3-2 victory over Serbia on Saturday.

Plamen Konstantinov (Bulgaria, head coach): 'I'm happy with the victory, but not with the way we played and the way we lost the fourth set. If we want to be a top team we can't lose sets like this because normally we can also lose matches. We had a good difference, we were comfortable but in this moment we needed to push until the end of the set. It was important to us to win to keep on our way to the qualification. Tomorrow we have a very tough match against Argentina in front of their public. They will fight for every ball and I expect as difficult a match as today. I don't think that we can take some easy victory, we already lost one match against them so I hope tomorrow we get more concentrated in the important moments.'

Tsvetan Sokolov (Bulgaria, player):
'We fought hard for this victory. Sometimes, when you need to win by force, you don’t play very well, but for us the most important thing was to win. Tomorrow we have a crucial match against Argentina, a team that never gives anything away. We need to clear our heads and start preparing to beat them and their crowd.'

Aleksandar Blagojevic (Serbia, player): 'I think we played a really good match. We didn't play with our starting players and we got to the fifth set even though we're still young. Bulgaria players are more experienced and I think that was the main difference. This is Serbia last weekend before the Finals and we're happy because of this results. I think we can go for a medal.'

Nikola Grbic (Serbia, head coach): 'I gave the chance to players that usually don't play so the level is not the same as with the starting six. I'm really satisfied with the quality and the heart they put in. We were really down in the fourth and we came back in a great way, so I'm happy about how these guys reacted and the way they played. I'm proud because they played the best they could.'
