Historic win against Brazil is stimulus to keep working, growing and learning - Velasco

Argentina coach Julio Velasco directed his team to its first ever win against Brazil in the FIVB Volleball World League

Cordoba, Argentina, June 17 – The Orfeo Superdomo witnessed a historic night after Argentina’s 3-1 win over Brazil in the FIVB Volleyball World League, which coach Julio Velasco thinks is a great motivation for the team.

“It’s a big happiness for us to have won this match. We don’t have all our players and we had to invent in some positions, but the team played with order and with much determination. This is a great stimulus to keep working, growing and learning. We wanted to take a step further from where we are.”

Argentina player Sebastian Sole: “This is a hard working team. We played well and we deserved this victory. The fans were amazing tonight. They cheered for us and they enjoyed this game. It is great to play at home because they’re always with us even when the results are not good. We’re glad we could give them a moment of joy.”

Argentina player Martin Ramos: “We want to enjoy this victory, but we have to keep working for the next match. We wanted to win this match and we are fortunate to do it. We improved since the second set and we played since the very first ball. That was important to get the win.”

Brazil coach Renan Dal Zotto: “We knew it was going to be a difficult game because there’s a lot of parity between Argentina and Brazil. We played a very good first set but then we lost our patience in counter-attack. They played a very good match with fewer mistakes, and we paid for ours.”
