Boyer was relentless on the first two sets being the main contributor to France's qualification
Curitiba, Brazil, July 6, 2017 - French main scorer Stephen Boyer once again fulfilled that task and he led the way for Les Bleus towards 2017 FIVB Volleyball World League semifinals, after they eliminated last champions Serbia with a 3-2 (25-21, 25-20, 17-25, 18-25, 15-11) victory.
Boyer gathered 21 points and he was particularly essential on the first two sets, the ones that sent France into the competition’s final four. Earvin Ngapeth chipped in with 14 tallies, while Serbia had two reserve players with the same total - Captain Nemanja Petric and opposite Aleksandar Atanasijevic, each with 18 points.
The only possible road for Serbia into semifinals was a three-point win, but that door closed completely when France stormed to a 2-0 lead. In the end, the 3-2 for France boosted them to Pool K1 first slot, with only one set of margin over USA. Serbia trailed both of them with a single point on their total.

There wasn’t much room for Serbian hopes as Boyer was mega-efficient on spiking allowing France to totally control the game for one set and a half. On the final track of the second chapter Serbia reduced the distance with some stuff blocks, but France still won it and booked their place into semifinals. Both teams gave room to several subs afterwards and that triggered a Serbian run until the fifth set, but then France brought back their big guns to clinch the win.
